Volunteer Positions

Description

The BHL Center focuses on developing and testing model higher education and community-based programs to address health disparities in underserved populations. The following volunteer positions are available for fall 2007. Each position requires at least five (5) hours per week. All students will have the opportunity to receive job-performance feedback. Based on performance, selected students can qualify for BHL Center Fellow status which provides the opportunities post-internship to work on special projects on a paid or volunteer basis. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Open Positions

Assistant to the Director

Responsibilities: Assist with interactions in the community, including communicating the Center’s mission, making presentations to individuals and groups, and implementing health-related community programs. Assist with research activities including conducting literature searches and writing grant proposals.

Qualifications: Ability to work independently and to multi-task, strong writing skills, proficiency in technology (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and access to reliable transportation. Health-related major preferred.

Administrative Assistant

Responsibilities: Assist the Assistant Director with all Center administrative operations associated with event planning and project management.

Qualifications: Ability to work independently, strong communication skills, proficiency in technology (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and access to reliable transportation.
